According to Adams Arms, their consumer roster of women gun owners has tripled since COVID; with women citing self-defense, protection, and skill building at the core of their decision. Women are mirroring international sentiment and demonstrating their expectations of high tech in firearms, training and the social aspects of sharing their proficiency.

BROOKSVILLE, FLA. (PRWEB) JULY 05, 2022

Women now make up 42% of gun owners in the U.S. according to a recent study from Harvard University. Over the last five years there has been a 14% increase in the number of women who are first-time gun owners, with 3.5 million women joining the ranks between January 2019 and April 2021.(1) Adams Arms President Jason East has noted that the global scenario of women in Ukraine legally possessing firearms and doing their part to defend their sovereignty and protect their family has had assistance from the U.S. and Adams Arms.(2) Women in the U.S. are mirroring those sentiments and emerging to arm themselves with technology and firearms training to thwart feelings of vulnerability.(3)

“In this country violence such as that plaguing the ‘city of brotherly love’, cities dealing with depleted law enforcement numbers, and a divided nation have given rise to women armed with determination,” points out East. “They are demonstrating a determination to stop being vulnerable and protect their family and home by becoming proficient in operating a firearm.” In Philadelphia 2021 resulted in more than 70,000 license-to-carry applications – and women made up just over half.(4) This week the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a decision ensuring individual rights under the Second Amendment and striking down laws in states violating that right.(5) East feels that this spells a victory for women who are determined to protect themselves and put an end to vulnerability.

Women find proficiency satisfying and challenging; a fact that is supported by a number of organizations growing in numbers nationally. These groups not only provide training, but also camaraderie and opportunities to share their growing skills socially. A Girl and A Gun and The Well Armed Woman(6) are two examples. “We support the mission of all these organizations in enhancing the ranks of trained and skilled women owning firearms,” notes East. As gun owners, women are different. With less ego involved, they are analytical and take the time to research firearm technology, then follow up with gun safety classes and understanding firearms, self-defense and training. The number of female instructors is rising, as well as the number of women becoming trained gun owners in order to cultivate a ‘sense of community’.(7)

East adds, “We typically see first-time gun owners begin with a handgun. Over the course of the training their skills and confidence level become transferable to a rifle. Our piston system is a favorite of the military and law enforcement – and civilians such as these women first time gun owners now see its merit. The rifle is cleaner, cooler and more reliable. In short, its operation is there when it counts the most, which helps women feel in control.”
